FCRMS Asset Management Business Systems Team Senior Advisor – 32232

Job Description

The Environment Agency creates better places for people, wildlife, and the environment. We put the climate emergency at the heart of everything we do and help society adapt to environmental challenges such as flooding, drought, sea level rise and coastal change. We are looking for a Senior Advisor to support our asset management business system that includes carbon management to meet our corporate objective of becoming a Net Zero Carbon organisation. Carbon management is being fully embedded in both the delivery of our infrastructure programme and in our management of assets.

Key responsibilities include:

* Supporting EA and external users of operational carbon tools
* Managing and delivering a range of services to users of carbon tools
* Agreeing and maintaining services with a range of different user groups
* Being a senior product user for digital improvement projects of our carbon tools and data
* Planning and managing user activities in the implementation of carbon tool changes and improvements
* Managing the resources and funding for carbon tools support and maintenance
* Working with operational carbon communities and national leads as required

The role will involve working with IT suppliers and others within the EA, including colleagues in FCRM, Operations teams throughout England and in Defra’s Digital, Data and Technology Services (DDTS). It will also liaise with Local Authorities, Water Companies, Internal Drainage Boards, and the civil engineering supply chain.

Experience & skills required:

* Experience in asset management and/or infrastructure business processes
* Experience in digital tool development or user implementation services
* Experience in development of training and documentation
* Knowledge and skills in stakeholder engagement and effective communications
* Ability to identify, analyse, evaluate, and implement improved ways of working
* Ability to take decisions and solve complex business problems
* A strong focus on efficiency, innovation, and quality
* Strong focus on customers and partners and ability to build and sustain relationships
* Ability to manage yourself and work on your own initiative

Competence 1 – Takes Decisions and Solves Problems

Provide a specific example of when you have identified and delivered a solution by effectively analysing all the information, probing to develop alternatives, and taking sound and timely decisions.

Competence 2 – Influences and Persuades Others

Provide a specific example of when you have presented a case in a convincing and attractive way that won people over and encouraged them to follow plans willingly.

Competence 3 – Leads People

Give an example of when you have led a team or working group to accomplish significant achievements in difficult circumstances.

Competence 4 – Focuses on Efficiency, Innovation and Quality

Can you describe a time when you identified an opportunity to improve a process or system in your team or organisation? How did you approach it, what was the innovation and what impact was achieved on efficiency and quality?

The role is predominantly office-based, but travel will be required occasionally. Any location for your office base is acceptable. Everyone starting in AMBST is welcomed into the team and given all of the training and support needed to succeed. There are also fully funded opportunities to develop further academic/professional qualifications.
