A new opportunity has arisen for a Laboratory Technician to join our enthusiastic team in the Ecotoxicology department. The role is varied in nature and includes maintenance of terrestrial and aquatic organism cultures, stock control, decontamination of glassware, setting up of equipment and routine maintenance in support of GLP-compliant regulatory studies. The successful candidate will work as part of a team and be mainly laboratory based. Experience of working in a laboratory setting or with terrestrial and/or aquatic species would be preferable but not essential as full training will be given.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Produces and maintains data in compliance with regulatory requirements for review by Study Directors or Supervisor..
* Has an understanding of basic biological methodologies..
* Culture and maintain test organisms
* Able to use relevant specific software.
* Reviews own work for overall accuracy, timeliness and completeness.
* Informs the Study Director and other appropriate personnel of any unforeseen circumstances that may affect the integrity of the study.
* Performs QC review of selected routine data.
* Participates in team meetings.
* Sets up and performs routine tests based on the study protocol, SOPs, methods and the technical advice of the more experienced researcher.
* Set up laboratory equipment and perform routine maintenance.
* Maintains a clean and safe laboratory work environment.
* Performs other such reasonable related duties as assigned.
