Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated person to join the Therapy Department at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust (RNOH). You will be supporting Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists who provide a wide range of rehabilitation programmes for people with complex chronic musculoskeletal pain problems, hypermobility and rheumatological conditions. The role has clinical, organisational and general tasks to ensure the smooth running of the outpatient department and to ensure a high-quality patient experience in the therapy outpatients and hydrotherapy pool areas. The post holder will mainly be based at the RNOH Stanmore site.
Responsibilities
* Undertake skilled support work to aid rehabilitation of patients and support day-to-day running of the department.
* Assist with teaching and supervising exercises (individually, in classes and in water) and functional activities (individually and in groups); provide feedback to the multidisciplinary team on patients’ progress.
* Provide administration, data entry and practical support to ensure the smooth running of the department.
* Maintain stock levels and ensure equipment is cleaned according to infection control guidelines.
* Supply patients requiring walking aids/equipment and instruct patients on their safe use.
* Support students on clinical placements.
* Carry out and document group and individual activity sessions with patients; maintain clinical equipment; perform administrative and clerical tasks; prepare and clean treatment areas. May regularly work in and around the hydrotherapy pool.
* Deliver rehabilitation-related activities (craft activities, gardening, cooking), relaxation groups, sport and swimming sessions, and set up/use rehabilitation equipment and techniques.
* Provide full training and regular supervision; work involves assisting therapists to run sessions and ensuring patient safety.
Qualifications & Skills
* Good written and spoken English; experience of working with people with disabilities.
* Initiative and ability to demonstrate basic administration and clerical skills.
