About The Role

As an inclusive, forward-thinking business, we take pride in our approach to Engineering across Avara Foods and are looking for a highly competent and motivated Engineering Apprentice to be part of the Engineering Team at our site in Scropton, Derbyshire.
Purpose of the Role
As an Engineering Apprentice, you will support the Engineering teams with optimising machinery output and product quality, and minimise plant downtime through effective planned and reactive maintenance activities while maintaining a safe and healthy environment and promoting good engineering practice.

What The Apprenticeship Entails
A 4-year, multi-skilled Level 3 Engineering Apprenticeship delivered at College one day per week alongside on-the-job development and experience.
Your Key Responsibilities As An Engineering Apprentice Will Be
* Supporting the Engineering team to ensure that maintenance is carried out as scheduled, with effective corrective actions.
* Developing quick and effective responses to breakdowns in various areas of the site, identifying root causes, and suggesting improvements to prevent future issues.
* Following good engineering standards and hygiene practices.
* Ensuring all activities comply with health and safety guidelines.
* Highlighting areas for improvement to senior engineers and managers.
* Following escalation routes for plant downtime.
* Applying problem-solving techniques to identify root causes of issues.
What We Are Looking For
We seek a driven, ambitious individual with:
* Numerical and reasoning skills meeting entry requirements (Functional Skills Level 2 in Literacy and Numeracy, plus a pass in the Technical Abilities Test).
* At least 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including Maths, English, and a science or technical subject.
* Practical ability to operate in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
* Self-motivation and multi-tasking skills.
* Clear communication skills with colleagues at all levels.
* Engineering experience is beneficial but not essential.
