We operate a varied fleet including cars, vans of all sizes, minibuses, tippers & dropsides and trucks. We also sell ex-hire vehicles and provide long-term hire options for businesses. The business is fast-paced, practical, and personal – everyone here pitches in, from the directors to the yard team.
The Role
We’re hiring a Fleet Manager to take full responsibility for the condition, presentation, compliance, and performance of our vehicle fleet. This is a key role in a busy depot – you’ll keep our vehicles roadworthy, smart, and ready to meet customer demand, day in and day out.
You’ll also support the wider running of the depot, stepping in as Duty Manager every second weekend and at other times as required. This is a hands-on role that requires someone highly organised, proactive, and willing to roll their sleeves up and do what needs to be done – whether that’s chasing a part, prepping a van for sale, or jumping on the desk when it’s busy.
Key Responsibilities
* Schedule and oversee all servicing, maintenance and MOTs
* Ensure road tax and compliance are always up to date
* Monitor and manage Vehicles Off Road (VOR) – liaising with mechanics and valeters to get vans back in action
* Oversee and log vehicle damage and insurance claims, coordinate cosmetic repairs
* Replace damaged decals/livery to maintain brand standards
* Purchase parts and coordinate with suppliers
* Prepare vans for sale, advertise listings, handle enquiries and close vehicle sales
* Conduct weekly mileage and 28-day checks for long-term hires
* Take the lead in managing and resolving vehicle breakdowns efficiently
* Step in as Duty Manager every second weekend, supporting yard/office ops and managing van check-ins and check-outs
About You
We’re looking for someone with real-world experience in vehicle rental, fleet operations or transport/logistics. You should understand how a hire fleet works day-to-day and be confident juggling multiple tasks and priorities.
While you don’t need to be a mechanic, you must be comfortable with vehicle basics – enough to speak the same language as the workshop and make sensible, informed decisions about repairs and maintenance.

* Confident with computers and fleet management systems
* A solid team player with good communication skills
* Flexible – happy to get stuck in wherever needed
* Customer-focused when called upon in the Duty Manager role
* In possession of a full UK driving licence
What You’ll Get:
* A starting salary of £40,000+ but negotiable depending on experience and the value you bring to the role
* A full-time role with a 2-week rotating pattern; week 1: Mon–Fri 8am–5.30pm, week 2: four weekdays (1 day off), Sat 8am–1pm, Sun 9am–1pm
