Responsibilities
* Greet patients and visitors to the surgery.
* Book, amend and cancel patient appointments in line with practice schedules.
* Ensure computerised appointment system is up to date.
* Respond to and redirect all patient and visitor requests appropriately.
* Explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to new and temporary patients.
* Set up new patients onto the computer system.
* Advise patients of relevant charges for private services, accept payments and issue receipts.
* Ensure reception and waiting areas are neat and tidy.
* Answer incoming telephone calls, document calls and redirect accordingly.
* Undertake administrative tasks as assigned by the Practice Management Team.
* Check emails daily and ensure all electronic messages are actioned.
* Provide general assistance to the practice team, projecting a positive and friendly image.
* Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures, and make new and follow-up appointments.
* Use judgment to ensure that patients with no prior appointment but requiring urgent consultation are seen in a logical, non-disruptive manner.
* Receive and make telephone calls as required; divert calls and take messages with accuracy.
* Action repeat prescription requests in line with practice protocol.
* Take action on clinicians' requests for further patient information or contact details; ensure completion of associated paperwork.
Experience
* Working in a General Practice setting
