We are recruiting for a Care Manager to provide compassionate care and support to the elderly and frail Sisters residing at a Convent based in Westcliff on Sea, Essex. The Care Manager will be responsible for overseeing all operational functions and for managing the staff employed within the Convent, with a continued emphasis on maintaining a consistently high standard of service. Experience of managing a care home (for the elderly) is essential. An understanding of religious community living is required, together with staff management and budget management experience. NVQ 4 or 5 in Social Care is required or RGN nursing qualification desirable. As a Care Manager, this position requires a high level of self-motivation, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances to ensure the ongoing delivery of quality care. The ideal candidate will possess strong professional leadership and management abilities, along with the interpersonal skills needed to work collaboratively with staff when delivering hands-on care. Providing this hands-on care as well as managing the home, is essential and someone with a nursing background would be ideal for this role. It is essential to recognise that the Convent is the Sisters’ private home, not a traditional residential care facility. While care must adhere to established residential care home standards, a key responsibility of this role is to preserve the warm, respectful, and homely atmosphere of the Convent. · To lead and manage the staff team collaboratively providing appropriate leadership and hands-on support as required, whilst ensuring sufficient and appropriate cover is maintained 24 hours a day. · To support staff and provide hands-on care with residents as and when required. · Create a warm, comfortable and safe environment for the Sisters and be responsible for the co-ordination, management and provision of a high quality of care and support for the Sisters, and effective overall management of the Convent · Enable Sisters to be free of unnecessary responsibilities and undue anxieties as far as possible so as to be able to live life to the full according to their ability, ensuring individual care plans are maintained and reviewed regularly. · To liaise with Sisters in the Community to co-ordinate and effectively plan leisure and recreational opportunities for the Sisters, thus promoting a valued and fulfilling lifestyle, ensuring choice at all times, supporting and enabling independence where possible. · Responsible for fostering good relationships with all in-house carers and professional Health Care Professionals from Social Services and other external agencies and organisations involved in the provision of care. Managing People The Manager is responsible for all stages of the staffing process including: · Recruitment Compiling Job descriptions, advertising roles and managing the interview process from start to finish. · Staff Induction: Ensure staff familiarisation with process and procedures and how to implement them.
