Turnaround intervention worker

Some key information

* Flexible working available, using a hybrid model - working from home and your contracted work base. Your work base is open to discussion.
* 28 days' annual leave plus bank holidays
* Target interventions and a support packages to children in mainstream secondary schools who are at risk of multiple temporary exclusions, or managed moves due to reasons associated with violence or exploitation.
* Fixed term/secondment until 31/03/2026. (For secondments, please discuss this with your current Line Manager before applying and obtain their approval).

What will I be doing?

We're working to improve the lives of Children and young people in Somerset – and you'll be a key part of that.

You will:

* work within the Youth Offending Service and alongside the Somerset Violence Reduction Unit to keep children safely in school wherever possible.
* target interventions and support packages to children in mainstream secondary schools who are at risk of multiple temporary exclusions, or managed moves due to reasons associated with violence or exploitation.

This may include but is not limited to those where concerns are raised regarding weapon possession or substance misuse either in school or the community.

Young people identified through Education Safeguarding and the Violence Reduction Unit will be offered the opportunity to address risk factors and motivations that led to their situation.

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

We offer ongoing support, training and guidance to help you be the best you can be. But it will really help if you have:

* a minimum 5 A – C grades at GCSE, level 4 – 7 or equivalent which should include English and Maths.
* a relevant vocational qualification (or significant acquired knowledge equal to) at a minimum of Level 3 NVQ, together with evidence of continuing professional development in a relevant professional field.
* a willingness to engage in ongoing training, development and supervision.
* experience and skills in working with children and young people on both a one to one basis and in a group work setting.
* experience working in a relevant field – to include (but not limited to) youth work, probation, education, health or criminal justice.
* a working knowledge of primary legislation relation to youth criminal justice.

The salary range for this role is £28,598 - £32,061 per annum
