Job title: Personal Assistant – Community Support Location: Childwall, Liverpool Hours of work: 4 hours per week school term time & 8 hours per week school holidays Rate of pay National Minimum Wage Introduction: A Personal Assistant is required to support a young adult autistic male, who has anxiety and selectively mute. Main Duties: • Companionship to support socialisation – to support accessing the community. To travel to the park, groups or social days out, etc. Basic support with shopping, visiting cafes and helping to make purchases, etc. To carry out any other reasonable requests that the employer may make, such as going to local amenities. To drive to various locations, as required for outings or socialisation. • Safeguarding the young person at all times. To provide a high standard of support, in a professional manner, as he may get overwhelmed in busy places, so would need support to regulate. To always ensure safety of young person during your working period. • To develop a good working relationship with the young person and their family, and be a person the young person can trust, through building positive relationships. • To create a caring, stable environment, to ensure the young person is achieving positive outcomes and learning experiences. • Communicate effectively with the young person and family, to ensure cohesive support. Skills and Experience • Experience of supporting Autistic individuals, as knowledge and understanding is essential. Person Specification: • Flexibility around hours of work and main duties of the job. • Resilient and able to remain calm, when faced with anxious behaviours. • Caring, supportive natured, honest, responsible and patient. • Punctual and reliable. • Able to use own initiative and be self-motivated. • Able to maintain confidentiality and be aware of privacy • An ability to develop and maintain a supportive relationship. • A person with a full driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential. • Good communication and inter-personal skills. • Active, energetic and sociable, with a good sense of humour. weeks holiday per year (pro rata). Sick pay at SSP rate (if eligible) 50p per mile reimbursement for mileage travelled with young person.
