Job Title: Primary Teaching Assistant (Day-to-Day, Part-Time & Full-Time - Including SEN Roles)
Location: Mansfield, Nottinghamshire
We are currently recruiting dedicated and enthusiastic Primary Teaching Assistants to work across a range of friendly and supportive primary schools in Mansfield and the surrounding areas. Flexible opportunities are available including day-to-day supply, part-time, full-time, and long-term roles, with some positions specifically supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
Whether you are an experienced Teaching Assistant, have SEN experience, or are looking to gain more classroom experience, we have roles to suit a variety of skills and availability.
The Role
As a Primary Teaching Assistant, you will support teaching and learning across EYFS, Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2. Roles may vary from general classroom support to focused 1:1 SEN provision depending on the school's needs.
General Classroom TA Responsibilities:
Support the class teacher with lesson delivery and classroom activities
Work with small groups to reinforce learning
Assist with phonics, reading, writing, and numeracy interventions
Prepare classroom resources and maintain an organised and positive learning environment
Promote positive behaviour and encourage pupil engagement
Support pupils during transitions, break times, and other school activities
SEN Teaching Assistant Responsibilities (where applicable):
Some roles will involve supporting pupils with additional needs, including:
Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
ADHD
Speech and Language needs
Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
Moderate learning difficulties
In SEN-focused roles, you may:
Provide 1:1 support in line with EHCP targets
Implement behaviour management and personalised learning strategies
Support emotional regulation and sensory needs
Work closely with class teachers and SENCOs to monitor progress
Encourage independence, confidence, and social skills
Previous SEN experience is highly desirable, though guidance and ongoing support will be provided.
What We're Looking For
Experience working with primary-aged children (school-based experience preferred)
Experience supporting SEN pupils (desirable for SEN roles)
A patient, adaptable, and proactive approach
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to adapt quickly to different classroom environments
Relevant qualifications (Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant) are desirable but not essential
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
