Facility Operations Centre (FOC) Role
The Data Centre Global Engineering Operations organization is looking for a leader to help bring to fruition a newly developed Facilities Operations Centre (FOC). The FOC provides 24x7 monitoring of the data centre’s physical infrastructure and serves as a facilitator for Large Scale Events (LSEs) and Critical Site Events (CSEs). It is a central monitoring location for facility electrical and mechanical systems, ensuring customer experience is optimal through consistency, reliability, and attention to detail. The ideal candidate will understand both data centre IT infrastructure and facilities infrastructure and how they co-exist, and will provide assistance and support to the onsite team to meet or exceed defined service levels. The role includes growing the team to a standard of operational excellence and aligning the FOC with broader business objectives.
Responsibilities
* Monitors the data centre Amazon facilities infrastructure platform
* Serves as a point of contact for internal and external teams
* Assists with the development of communication and escalation protocols
* Contributes to outage post mortem analysis
* Ensures records are updated in a timely manner
* Assists with coordination and communication during emergency recovery efforts
* Assists with the development of tools to enhance team performance
* Supports a 24x7 environment (shift work that may include weekends and holidays)
About the Team
The FOC is a singular support team that proactively monitors life-safety systems and infrastructure equipment alarms (e.g., chillers, temperature sensors, generators, UPSs, switchgear, breakers, PDUs, ATSs) in a 24x7x365 operation. We support Data Centre Engineer Operations teams responsible for infrastructure equipment, ensuring critical alarms are Responded to, Acknowledged, Investigated, and Dispatched (RAID). The FOC also serves as a communications hub during standard and emergency operations.
