Healthcare Science Practitioner (Cardiac Physiologist)

We are offering an exciting opportunity to join our friendly Cardiac Investigations team at Worthing Hospital as a Healthcare Science Practitioner (Cardiology). We are looking for enthusiastic, highly motivated applicants wanting to further their training and experience in all areas of Cardiac Physiology with a view for progression and helping to shape our workforce for the future.


Main duties of the job

To assist in delivery of a high quality Cardiac Investigations service to inpatients and outpatients of University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust – Worthing Hospital.

* Working towards becoming an independent Cardiac Physiologist/Healthcare Science Practitioner within a wide range of investigations including echocardiography, pacemaker, ICD and complex device interrogation and follow‑up with supervision; training and assisting in PPM/ICD/CRT device implant procedures; assisting in all invasive investigations in the Cardiac Catheter Lab and assisting in providing comprehensive reports; working towards leading in Exercise Tolerance Testing as well as undertaking Holter analysis and reporting
* Organising and managing own workload
* Being conversant with Cardiac Arrest protocol
* Assisting in the supervision and training of other staff and healthcare professionals where required

Job responsibilities

To communicate information to staff both Medical and Non‑Medical.

* To communicate effectively with patients, to obtain their consent and cooperation, including patients with physical/learning disabilities, children or confused patients
* To communicate effectively with relatives of patients
* To promote a pleasant and efficient image during all dealings with internal and external organisations
* To develop good working relationships with other departments within the Trust
* To participate in the cardiac department meetings
* Liaise proactively with line manager and colleagues regarding any issues or areas of concern


Person Specification


Qualifications

* BSc Healthcare Science (Cardiology) or BSc Clinical Physiology (Cardiology)


Professional Registration

* HCPC Registration
* RCCP Registration


Skills

* Good knowledge of all Cardiac Investigations
* Ability to work to a high level of accuracy
* Ability to prioritise and manage own workload


Communication

* Good communication and telephone skills
* Ability to communicate well with colleagues within team environment


Personal Requirements

* Flexible approach to working
* Evidence of values aligned to those of the Trust and Department
