The Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) is the independent regulator and registrar for Scottish charities. As a Caseworker within the Regulation team, you’ll assess applications for charitable status and carry out inquiries where there are regulatory concerns. Your role will be key in identifying and managing risk, ensuring that concerns are handled efficiently, proportionately, and in line with OSCR’s Risk Framework. Responsibilities Responsibilities Ensure best practice is followed in identifying relevant and credible information sources and assessing information in casework, while working with managers to ensure that the approach is proportionate to the identified risk and delivers clear outcomes. Make timely and defensible decisions in line with OSCR procedures, legislative requirements, and procedural fairness, seek and use support from managers and peers, professional advice and input from colleagues across the organisation and engage with applicants, charity trustees and external stakeholders when required. Manage casework to ensure consistent delivery against agreed performance targets, prioritising based on identified risk, and escalating or de-escalating tasks as appropriate when risk levels change. Work flexibly across OSCR’s casework areas when required, maintaining a focus on outcomes. Support OSCR’s team leaders and managers in taking forward OSCR’s culture of continuous improvement, identifying and helping to take forward opportunities to improve processes in the team and across the organisation. Provide guidance on applications, queries and concerns to charity trustees and members of the public in person, on the phone and in writing, in line with OSCR corporate standards. Allocate work and manage individual performance of team members where relevant, working with your manager to set objectives, monitor outputs, and identify and address learning and development needs. Contribute to wider organisational priorities by performing other tasks and participating in projects as required, as part of a flexible team approach. Qualifications Success Profile Success profiles are specific to each job and they include the mix of skills, experience and behaviours candidates will be assessed on.
