What you will be doing
The Payload Procurement team at Portsmouth sources and manages high-value sub-contracts for RF hardware for Space Satellites. Placements provide insight into potential career paths within Airbus, offering practical industry experience in a multinational environment with suppliers worldwide. You will be guided and supervised but also entrusted with responsibility to develop projects independently.
Two areas of responsibility:
* Commodity Management – sourcing and procurement strategy. Activities may include:
* Provide support in Commodity Management tasks through active management of internal knowledge repositories
* Assist with market surveys and document supplier data (capability, financial information, organisation)
* Manage market cost databases for standard and non-standard products
* Survey the market for upcoming conferences and identify companies of interest
* Support tendering and supplier selection processes in line with business needs
* Support development of commodity strategies to ensure short and long-term competitiveness
* Supply Chain and Quality Management (SCQM) – contract execution and on-time / on-quality delivery of hardware. Activities may include:
* Support SCQM to manage On Time and On Quality (OTOQ) from suppliers of complex, high-value RF equipment for Telecommunications Spacecraft
* Timely and accurate reporting and facilitation of technical interaction between internal experts and suppliers
* Support Vendor Review Board process – act as the interface between Supply Chain and Production Quality
* Lead improvement projects to improve Procurement ways of working
Requirements
* Open to Undergraduates only for the whole duration of the placement. Please inform your graduation date on your application.
* Your application should include a CV and a Cover Letter outlining motivation and suitability for the role.
* Studying for a relevant field (Business, Project Management, Supply Chain, Logistics, or equivalent)
* Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders and to work independently
* Pro-active attitude and willingness to learn in a technical environment
* Professional attitude in dealings with external suppliers and internal stakeholders
* Familiarity with Google Workspace is a benefit but not essential
Security clearance: You will be subject to a BPSS check. UK SC-level Security Clearance or Export Control may be required depending on the role.
