The Role
University Hospital Monklands is looking for an enthusiastic pharmacy technician or student technician to join our pharmacy team! The successful candidate will provide pharmaceutical technical services predominantly within our Pharmacy Department and Aseptic Unit

The successful candidate will provide pharmaceutical technical services within all sections of the pharmacy department to patients attending or admitted to the hospital and will ensure the accurate, efficient and timely supply of discharge/outpatient prescriptions, pharmaceutical stock and non-stock supplies to wards and departments and also prepare products such as systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT), total parenteral nutrition (TPN) and biological medicines used in the treatment of patients across NHS Lanarkshire.

Job Purpose

Knowledge, Training and/or Experience Required;???????
National Certificate in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent
SVQ Level III
Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council
Continuing Professional Development as detailed by the General Pharmaceutical Council (mandatory requirement)
Experience in dispensing discharge / OPD / in-patient prescriptions
Experience in providing a ward/department stock top-up
Ability to be trained to carry out aseptic and cytotoxic drug reconstitution / manipulations
Participation in weekend and public holiday working

National 5 grades in Biology, Chemistry, English and Mathematics
Or
NC Applied Sciences (Must be Chemistry and Biology based)
*Please note if offered as a Trainee post, Annex 21 applies*
The salary for a Band 4 is (£25,914 - £28,187) or, if appointed as a Pre-registration Pharmacy Technician, the salary will be 70% of the top of the band in year 1 and 75% in year 2 under Agenda for Change Annex 21 rules.

What we'll need you to bring
1. National Certificate in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent
2. SVQ Level III
3. Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council
4. Continuing Professional Development as detailed by the General Pharmaceutical Council (mandatory requirement)
5. Experience in dispensing discharge / OPD / in-patient prescriptions
6. Experience in providing a ward/department stock top-up
7. Understanding of hospital pharmacy services
8. Ability to be trained to carry out aseptic and cytotoxic drug reconstitution / manipulations
9. Computer skills/key board skills
10. Good communication skills both verbal and written
11. Ability to organise and prioritise work / Team player
12. Participation in weekend and public holiday working
Applicants who do not hold a National Certificate in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent will be considered under the Annex 21 training programme, whilst undergoing training they will be paid 70% of the top of Band 4 (£21,013) and on completion of training will then move onto Band 4 scale
