The registered Senior Research Nurse/Allied Health Professional is responsible for leading and managing a team of clinical research staff with the responsibility for delivering high quality research and clinical care. Providing guidance, education and leadership to others. In addition, the post holder is required to effectively manage their time to fulfil key responsibilities such as reviewing trial protocols, identifying resource implications, actively participating in various research and development meetings. Developing action plans to ensure agreed participant recruitment targets are met; training is in place for staff, support and mentoring other members of the team, leading on service development and contributing to research business planning for the future whilst autonomously managing a caseload of patients.
The post holder acts as an expert resource and is responsible for ensuring all elements of clinical trial work is carried out in accordance with UK and EU legal requirements, Trust policies and International Conference on Harmonisation Good Clinical Practice (ICH-GCP)

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
5. Provide Leadership and support to a team of clinical research staff.
6. Provide research nursing input into clinical research studies
7. Co-ordinate a group of patients enrolled in research studies.
8. Work according to GCP and research governance standards for clinical trials.
9. It is expected that the post holder will also provide non-specialty assistance to other Research Nurses/practitioners conducting clinical research.
10. Act in accordance with the Code of Conduct/Professional Practice Standards of your profession e.g. NMC, HPC etc.
11. Maintain own professional development, maintaining a personal portfolio.
12. Identify own needs for clinical supervision and the most appropriate way to implement this.
13. Understand and adhere to Trust policies and procedures.
14. Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.

Essential criteria
15. •Evidence of Continued Professional Development (CPD) clearly recorded for professional profile
16. •Evidence of implementing significant changes or service developments that promote good practice
17. •Experience in conducting or managing clinical research.

Essential criteria
26. •Current professional UK registration e.g. NMC Level 1, HCPC

28. •Degree level education or equivalent knowledge and skills gained through any combination of alternative study, or employment experience
