This role is based at Oversands School.
Oversands School is an independent specialist day school providing high-quality education, based in Grange-over-Sands. The school meets the needs of a diverse group of pupils with complex learning needs, social and emotional difficulties, and challenging behaviours.
“Here we know every pupil, their story, how we can help, and importantly, how they can succeed.” This statement is brought to life through a dedicated lower school designed with input from pupils; an upper school offering a broad range of subjects; and a vocational and post-16 provision with extensive courses led by experts.
Our clinicians are a crucial part of the most joined-up model in SEND. Across our specialist schools and children’s homes, we provide unrivalled clinical support in terms of expertise and breadth of provision. Our young people present with complex needs including developmental trauma, neuro-developmental conditions, and special educational needs.
As part of a multidisciplinary clinical team, you will support educational and residential colleagues to create therapeutic living and learning environments. Based on clinical assessment and formulation, you will offer individualised interventions and engagement, assess mental health, and recommend appropriate interventions in personalised care plans. Building rapport is key; this will enable you to deliver effective counselling and provide feedback on progress.

* As a qualified professional (or accredited Counsellor), you’ll be eligible for membership of BACP or a similar body. Additional qualifications in mental health or therapeutic interventions are desirable.
* You should be well-versed in child development and skilled at connecting with young people.
* You are highly organised and proactive.
* Honesty and empathy are essential, as we genuinely care about our young people and each other.
