Applicants are invited to apply for the role of Supported Living Scheme Concierge and to join an existing small concierge team, who provide services to small blocks of flats for tenants with mild to moderate learning disabilities in Gateshead. You will play a key role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for these tenants. The service is delivered seven days a week and works on a variable shift pattern which includes weekend work and overnight sleep in cover Monday to Sundays. You will be required to work flexibly on a rota. Enhancements will be paid for working sleep ins, weekends and public holidays.
About the role
Your main duties will consist of: Providing overnight sleep in cover as required by the service, maintaining the safety and security of the building. Monitoring CCTV and patrolling at regular intervals. Supervising tenant and visitor access to and from the building. Acting as first point of contact for the tenants who live there and dealing with any queries that they may have. Carrying out cleaning duties in the office and communal areas and assist with refuse collection.
What you'll get to do:
* To provide overnight sleep in cover as required by the service, maintaining the safety and security of the building.
* To ensure the security of the building by monitoring CCTV and patrolling at regular intervals and supervise tenant and visitor access to and from the building.
* To carry out cleaning duties in the office and communal areas and assist with refuse collection.
* To identify defects in relation to weekly/monthly building checks and report these promptly.
* Report out of hours emergency maintenance defects to 'repairs hotline'.
* To maintain full and accurate log of events during the shift. Complete verbal/written handovers.
* To act as first point of contact in an emergency within the service and take appropriate action i.e. contacting the emergency services and informing relevant professionals.
* To communicate effectively with tenants and professionals.
* To operate within clear professional boundaries and within Gateshead Councils code of conduct.
* To work flexibly on a rota, including weekends and public holidays.
* To demonstrate a positive, diverse and inclusive attitude to both internal and external customers and colleagues
What you'll bring:
* Understanding of equality and diversity within the workplace.
* 5 GCSEs (AC or 94), including Maths and English, or relevant demonstrable experience.
* Delivering good Customer service.
* Working alone with minimal supervision and use own initiative.
* Maintaining accurate records/logs.
* Effective communications skills.
* Basic understanding of safeguarding
* Experience of liaising with internal and external agencies.
