Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with behavioural needs, using de-escalation techniques and positive behaviour management strategies.
Assist the class teacher in maintaining a structured, calm, and productive learning environment.
Implement behaviour intervention plans, support emotional regulation, and encourage positive routines.
Build trusting, professional relationships with pupils to help increase engagement and reduce barriers to learning.
Support the monitoring and recording of behavioural incidents, progress, and interventions.
Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCo, pastoral leads, and external agencies where required.
Promote inclusion by helping pupils participate meaningfully in lessons and social activities.
Provide support in preparing learning materials and adapting activities to meet individual needs.
Uphold safeguarding policies, confidentiality, and welfare procedures at all times.
Participate in relevant training related to behaviour support and SEND provision.
Person Specification
Essential:
Experience working with children or young people who present challenging behaviour.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to remain calm, patient, and consistent under pressure.
Understanding of positive behaviour management and de-escalation strategies.
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare.
Ability to follow behaviour plans and work collaboratively within a team
