You can also join under the Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship (PCDA) entry route which combines dynamic practical on-the-job learning with academic classroom-based theory. You’ll begin your journey as a uniform Police Constable, developing the fundamental skills and experience required to succeed. After completing your probationary period, there are opportunities for career development and specialisation:
* Train to become a Detective Constable, investigating serious crimes and complex cases.
* Join specialist teams such as counter-terrorism, cybercrime, or public protection.
* Learn new skills and roles such as response driving, becoming an Armed Response Officer, or a Hostage and Crisis Negotiator.

Level 5 Diploma in Professional Policing
We’re proud to offer this qualification to all officers who enter via the Policing Plus route with Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary. Developed in partnership with the College of Policing and SFJ Awards, this diploma:
* Formally recognises your training and development through a national qualification
* Is awarded through work-based assessment – no separate coursework or exams
* Fully aligns with your journey to Independent Patrol Status (IPS) and Full Operational Competency (FOC)
* Comes at no cost to you – all fees are covered
A Level 5 qualification is equivalent to the second year of a bachelor degree programme. This qualification not only validates your skills but also enhances your career prospects and supports future progression.
You will join as a uniform Police Constable for the duration of your probationary period to ensure you learn the fundamental skills to become an exceptional police officer. If you aspire to become a detective, we will offer tailored support from day one. * PCDA (Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship) 3 year programme – Math and English GCSE or Level 2 functional Skills required

* Starting Salary: £33,164 (including a £2,000 South East allowance), rising to over £50,000 after seven years.
