Overview
As the Engagement Officer for Leicester Safeguarding Adults Board you'll be key in raising awareness across Leicester of what adult safeguarding is and how to report concerns. You'll also be hearing feedback from local adults at risk and from carers who have experienced adult safeguarding, with a view to informing and improving services and outcomes. You will support the smooth running of the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Engagement Subgroup by preparing reports and papers for the meetings as well as progressing the workplan outside of each meeting. With strong communication, networking, and organisational skills you'll be able to work well within the local community, running online information sessions, as well as setting up and facilitating face to face information session for local community groups. You will also develop and coordinate local awareness-raising campaigns, working with local multi-agency partners to promote them across a variety of social media. Recent initiatives have included developing animations as well as coproducing information leaflets about adult safeguarding.
Responsibilities
* Support the smooth running of the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Engagement Subgroup by preparing reports and papers for meetings and progressing the workplan outside of each meeting.
* Run online information sessions and set up and facilitate face-to-face information sessions for local community groups.
* Develop and coordinate local awareness-raising campaigns with local multi-agency partners to promote them across social media; recent initiatives have included animations and coproduced information leaflets about adult safeguarding.
* Work as part of a team of nine in the Safeguarding Board Office supporting Leicester Safeguarding Adults Board and Leicester Safeguarding Children Partnership; facilitate user and community engagement and participation.
* Engage with multi-agency partners and contribute to the Engagement Subgroup of the Safeguarding Adults Board.
Requirements / Qualifications
* Experience in setting up and facilitating engagement and participation work including coproduction; ability to work in a multi-agency environment.
* Knowledge and understanding of adult safeguarding and the Care Act 2014, or the ability to learn this.
* Excellent interpersonal skills with strong written and verbal communication.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise competing workloads.
* Good IT skills with the ability to use a variety of Microsoft Office applications.
