The Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) is seeking an experienced Line Manager to lead and support our Ambulance Vehicle Preparation (AVP) Supervisors and Operatives across various locations throughout the Yorkshire and Humber region. In this pivotal role, you will ensure the delivery of a high-quality AVP service across the Trust, provide primary frontline support, oversee geographical service provision, logistics, operational staffing, and training, and manage estates defect reporting, sickness absence, and staff appraisals while deputising for the Deputy Manager when required.
Working Pattern & Requirements
Rota-based flexibility to cover management duties and assist in the operational running of AVP sites when supervisory cover is unavailable. Shifts include some day shifts but are predominantly evening and night work. A valid driving licence with Category C1 is essential.
Responsibilities
* Performance Management: Analysing team data (e.g., vehicles prepared per shift, audit scores, and cost‑efficiency) to implement corrective and developmental actions.
* Team Leadership: Conducting yearly appraisals, monthly 1-to-1s, and managing employee relations or incident investigations.
* Operational Excellence: Identifying risks to vehicle preparation, producing dynamic risk assessments, and ensuring adherence to business continuity plans.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Building strong relationships across A&E Operations, Fleet Services, Estates, and Medical Devices to ensure seamless service delivery.
* Communication: Handling complex or sensitive conversations with compassion and tact, ensuring YAS values are embedded in every interaction.
Qualifications
Significant supervisory or management experience, preferably in multi-site operations or patient safety‑related provisions.
* NVQ Level 4 in Team Leading/Management (or equivalent experience) and NVQ Level 3 in Training Delivery (or equivalent).
* Proficiency in Health and Safety, COSHH, and Risk Assessments (ideally within a cleaning or logistics sector).
* GCSE Grade C or above (or equivalent) in five subjects, including English and Maths.
* Strong IT literacy, particularly in Microsoft Office packages.
* A valid driving licence with Category C1.
