£25,802 to £26,582 per annum (for exceptional performers, there is scope for further progression up to £30,569 per annum).

Our security team are key to the University's success. Generally being the first interaction our customers and visitors will have with us, the service they receive will shape their experience.
As an Operations Administrator at the University of Derby, you’ll play a central role in supporting the smooth running of our security operations.
Working closely with the duty Operations Controller, you’ll help manage CCTV, access control, car parking, and incident reporting, while coordinating resources to maintain a safe and welcoming environment.
This varied role combines operational support with key administrative responsibilities, offering the opportunity to make a real difference to the safety of our students, staff, and visitors.
You’ll be someone who thrives in a busy and varied role, able to stay calm and organised when priorities change.
With a background in customer service, administration, or security, you’ll bring strong communication skills and the confidence to deal with people at all levels.
You will have experience of managing information accurately, producing clear reports, and using IT systems effectively. Just as important is your ability to think on your feet, solve problems quickly, and work well as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities
* Provide a high-profile security service aimed at, maintaining and promoting the safety and security of all University property, facilities and equipment, and that of all associated users.
* Support the duty controller to co-ordinate and control of the activities of the Security staff, ensuring sufficient resource is available.
* To manage the Security shift rota.
* Oversee delivery of car parking management services. To manage new applications, database maintenance, invoicing, cancellations, and access and egress control measures via control room technology. To plan car parking requirements for key events.
* To review control room procedures and make recommendations for improvement.
* Collate and source information and intelligence relating any activity that may affect University life, regardless of location, and to staff as appropriate.
* Review data to ensure targeted high visibility patrols are effective.
* Support the duty controller to ensure that all routine tasks are performed at the appropriate time by directing and deploying resources appropriately and by updating all task and event calendars with timed reminders.
* Manage non-urgent enquiries received into the control room.
* Gather evidence of offences and breaches of student discipline, create incident reports and submit case papers to student conduct services.
* Support the review and assessment of security technology. Liaise with contracted suppliers to ensure maintenance work is completed in a timely manner. Manage the asset register and action reported faults.
* To support the Head of Security with raising purchase orders, invoicing, payments.
* To manage security uniform orders and inventory.
* To support the management of dedicated emergency telephone lines within the security control room.
* Support the duty controller in taking a pivotal role in managing all incidents to ensure appropriate resource and escalation process are implemented.
* Support the duty controller to record all incidents by creating a concise, accurate and complete incident report.
* As required, identify, investigate and report all risks, and ensure appropriate steps are taken to remove or mitigate their effects.
* To support the duty controller and/or oversee the deployment of security resources to emergency situations until or if relieved and ensure an appropriate response is delivered.
* Liaise and assist, where appropriate, with the Police and other external agencies in investigating all criminal activity affecting the University and its users.
* To be prepared to reasonably adjust working hours and arrangements were necessary and cover for absences.
* Comply with all Legislation, University policies and procedures and any reasonable instructions given by Supervisors and Managers.
* To undertake any other duties as seen appropriate by the Head of Security.
* GCSEs in Maths and English at grades A-C or equivalent qualifications

* Proven experience of working in a busy administrative role
* Proven experience of problem solving and decision making
* Proven experience of providing excellent customer service
* Proven experience of conducting minor investigations and compiling written reports
* Previous experience with administrative tasks such as maintaining databases, service schedules, asset tracking, or liaising with external agencies or suppliers.
