Job Summary:
* 4-year training program designed to equip the resident with the necessary skills and experience to pass the Veterinary Clinical Pathology board exams of the American College of Veterinary Clinical Pathologists.
* To contribute with increasing independence and efficiency to the timely, helpful, and accurate reporting of clinical pathology results across the veterinary pathology group.
* The resident is expected to participate fully in every aspect of daily pathologist case load, including telephone conversations with clients, cytology, haematology, biochemistry, endocrinology, microbiology, and interpretation of other tests.

* Clinical work will initially be closely reviewed by the resident supervisor, with increasing independence expected in years 2-4 at the supervisor's discretion.
* Attend and actively participate in weekly resident rounds.
* Use contracted study time responsibly to prepare for parts 1 and 2 of the American Veterinary Clinical Pathology board exams.
* Interact professionally with fellow pathologists and staff to promote a positive working environment.
* Provide excellent client service, recognizing its importance to the VPG ethos.
* Attend regular review meetings with the resident supervisor to assess progress and receive feedback.
* A 1:4 Saturday rota working is required, with a day in lieu the following week.
Knowledge, Skills, Attributes & Experience:
Essential
* RCVS recognized degree in Veterinary Medicine
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Good interpersonal skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* High levels of self-motivation and discipline for personal study
Desirable
* 2 or more years of clinical experience in general veterinary practice
* Previous experience in a veterinary laboratory setting
* Evidence of interest in clinical pathology (e.g., attending CPD events, lab work experience)
