We are currently recruiting Teaching Assistants for a range of secondary schools across Stockport, with roles starting in September 2026. These positions are ideal for individuals with prior experience working with children or young people who are looking to build or progress a career in education.
The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting both the academic progress and wellbeing of pupils. Working alongside teachers and school staff, you will help create an engaging, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Support pupils in lessons across a range of subjects
* Work with small groups or on a 1:1 basis to provide targeted support
* Assist teachers with lesson delivery and classroom management
* Encourage pupil engagement, confidence, and participation
* Help manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies
* Provide feedback to teaching staff on pupil progress and wellbeing
Experience & Skills Required
We welcome applications from candidates with experience in:
* School settings (Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, SEN Support)
* Nurseries, childcare, or youth work environments
* Coaching (e.g. sports coaching, mentoring, tutoring)
You will also need:
* A genuine passion for supporting young people in education
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* Confidence working with pupils of varying abilities
* A patient, proactive, and nurturing approach
* Reliability and a professional attitude
