HSEQ Advisor
Location: Aberdeen (Office & Site-Based)

This is a hands-on role offering real influence — supporting operational teams on site and in the office to deliver projects safely, sustainably, and to the highest standards.
The Role
As HSEQ Advisor, you will play a pivotal role in developing and maintaining a positive safety culture across the business. You’ll provide expert advice, guidance, and assurance to ensure compliance with legislation, client requirements, and internal standards.
You will also contribute to the ongoing development of the Integrated Management System, maintaining ISO compliance and driving continual improvement. This role suits someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working closely with operational teams.
Key Responsibilities
Health, Safety & Wellbeing
Support the development and implementation of HSEQ policies, procedures, forms, and annual objectives
Ensure effective risk control measures are in place and maintained
Liaise with external stakeholders including HSE, SEPA, local authorities, and clients
Lead investigations into accidents, incidents, and near misses
Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation
Coach, mentor, and support employees at all levels on HSEQ matters
Develop, deliver, and review audit and inspection programmes
Analyse performance data to identify trends and drive targeted improvements
Support commercial and HR teams, including occupational health, mental health initiatives, and D&A testing
Environmental
Ensure compliance with environmental policies, aspects, impacts, and best practice
Act as the subject matter expert for environmental matters across projects
Support operational teams to meet high environmental standards
Maintain Emergency and Pollution Response Plans
Contribute to environmental reporting and continuous improvement initiatives
Quality
Monitor and report on QA/QC performance
Provide guidance to improve quality outcomes
Support the maintenance and enhancement of the Integrated Management System
Ensure alignment with business objectives, ISO accreditation, and operational excellence standards
Additional Responsibilities
Provide consistent HSEQ support across all projects and functions
Maintain the Business Risk Register
Produce quarterly board reports
Conduct regular site visits to ensure standards are upheld
Identify emerging trends and develop targeted improvement campaigns
Support new project start-ups, including training, system development, and client liaison
Mentor and coach teams on behavioural safety and best practice
What You’ll Bring
Essential:
NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Safety & Health
Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Full UK Driving Licence
Desirable:
Environmental qualification (e.g. IOSH Managing Environmental Responsibilities)
Grad IOSH, NVQ Level 2/3, or working towards professional membership
ISO Internal Auditor qualification
