Role Title: Quality Engineer

About the Role:
The Quality Engineer plays a critical role in maintaining, developing and improving Blackwell’s business systems on the Sizewell C project. You will be responsible for the integrity of the project’s quality management processes, ensuring compliance with ISO9001 and other accreditation requirements, managing audits and inspections, and supporting the wider engineering and document control functions.
Working closely with the Technical Director, Engineers and Document Controller, you will ensure that all quality processes are robust, auditable and aligned with project and organisational standards. You will also act as the accountable owner for key quality systems including the NCR register, audit schedule and project filing structures.
What You’ll Be Doing:
* Maintaining and executing the project audits and inspections schedule.
* Managing ISO9001 and similar accreditations, including facilitating third‑party audits and actioning findings.
* Supporting the Document Controller with all project document control activities.
* Developing and reporting key metrics to demonstrate performance against business system targets.
* Documenting key processes and procedures.
* Owning and maintaining the project Non‑Conformance Register (NCR).
* Owning the audits and inspections schedule.
* Maintaining Master ITPs/ITCs, including working with the Technical Director on revisions and improvements.
* Delivering training to Engineers and other staff on the use of quality systems.
* Assisting Engineers with the particularisation of Master ITPs/ITCs.
* Conducting audits and inspections to ensure compliance with ITPs/ITCs.
* Reporting key performance metrics, including:
* 100% of works fully signed off within 2 weeks of completion on site.
* At least two‑thirds of all fill placed in a month signed off by month end.
* Acting as owner of all NCRs, coordinating investigations and implementing Corrective Action Reports (CARs).
* Supporting the Technical Director with subject‑matter training for Engineers.
* Acting as owner of the QA systems, including development of the Project Lot Register and coordination of handover documentation.
What We’re Looking For:
Essential:
* Qualification in quality management or relevant experience
* Engineering background
* Experience using AutoCAD
* Full understanding of external quality management regimes
* Significant experience managing quality systems on NEC contracts
* Open, collaborative and robust approach to team working
* Ability to command the respect of peers
Desirable:
* Degree‑level or equivalent qualification
* Experience managing an accredited quality system
* Experience with an earthworks or specialist contractor
* Advanced skills with Microsoft SharePoint, including:
* Creation and management of views, lists, document libraries and metadata
* Use of lookup fields and indexing
* Integration with Microsoft Teams and Power Platform
* Advanced skills with Microsoft Power Platform, including:
* Building PowerAutomate flows for data handling and process control
* Creating PowerApps to solve operational problems
