About The Role
Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for an Area Cost Supervisor to join our growing team in Edinburgh.
What you'll be doing
Duties and responsibilities include:
* Assistance in managing all (non-subcontract) project cost elements – People (Labour & Staff), Plant, Materials, Equipment, Charges / General Expenses (incl. insurances & levies).
* Systematically checking data for compliance as "Defined cost" and identifying any potential "disallowed costs", including checking costs are allocated to the correct WBS (Task and Expenditure Type).
* Supporting the monthly application for payment process by:
o providing actual cost reports from R12
o identifying non-recoverable costs e.g. those included within Fee, such as levies and insurances
o advising on accruals, including for the 4-weekly look ahead
o providing details on any journalled costs
o evidencing the cost breakdown for various non-subcontract cost elements being audited each month by the client (three-way match – PO/GRN/Invoice in accordance with the Audit Protocol)
o resolving any identified issues to allow evidence to be provided
o supporting the Finance Manager in reviewing the staff costs together with the client in R12
o identifying lessons learned and preparing advice, as may be necessary
o maintaining the audited records
o assisting the commercial team in preparing internal reports, for commercial progress and financial reconciliation
o assisting the commercial team in preparing forecasts of the total Defined Cost for the whole of the works, including trend analysis and identifying variances from cost baselines
o cross checking plant (incl. tower crane) charges from ATS
o providing non-subcontract cost information to support compensation event pricing
o ensuring that all staff working on the Dunard Centre project have submitted a timesheet and it has been approved every week, including those support staff not based on the project (e.g. temporary works, BIM, etc.)
* Strong understanding of cost management on large and complex construction projects.
* Part-qualified or fully qualified accountant (ACCA / CIMA / ACA or equivalent).
* Proven experience in managing and supporting customer finance audits.
