An excitingopportunity has come up within the Cardiology Ward at Barnsley Hospital for asecondment as a Lead Nurse. The role involves managing the cardiology wardalongside the Coronary Care Unit. The Cardiology ward is a 25 bedded unitalongside the 4 bedded Coronary Care Unit which supports Level 2 patients. Weare looking for a passionate registered nurse who can lead and support theCardiology team to deliver safe and effective care to our Cardiology patients.
Main duties of the job
The role includes managementresponsibilities such as: sickness management, capability and supportivemeasures, governance, roster management, quality improvement, etc. In additionto this, this includes working clinically within the Cardiology ward, supportingjunior staff and sharing expertise, whilst maintaining high standards ofpractice.
The applicant must be able tomaintain good working relationships with those within the MDT to help todeliver and improve the standards of care.
Prior cardiology experience is not essential but isdesirable as you are expected to be able to work clinically within thecardiology speciality as well as supporting junior staff in the management ofcardiology patients.

Experience
* Demonstrable experience of taking charge of a ward environment.
* Experience of leading and managing a team of nurses.
* Previous experience of change management & problem solving.
* Experience of handling clinical incidents & complaints.
Knowledge and Awareness
* Thorough speciality knowledge relevant to the department.
* Understanding of audit & research methodologies.

Qualifications
* 1st level registered nurse (equivalent to 1st degree) plus previous years experience at either Nurse Grade F or Band 6 plus additional qualifications including Assessing and Mentoring qualification and additional relevant degree (or evidence of working towards a degree).
* Evidence of ongoing dynamic continuing professional development within the speciality linked to demonstrable clinical competencies.
* Basic life support training.
* NVQ D32/33 Assessor Course.
* Advanced Life Support training.
