Job Description
Job Title: Business Development Executive
Job Type: Permanent
Hours: 37.5 hours a week
Location: Field Based
Note: This is a field-based role focused on identifying and converting new business opportunities, reactivating lapsed clients, and increasing engagement with current customers across a wide range of industries in the Materials Testing sector.
Responsibilities
* Identify and win new business from prospects and lapsed clients.
* Develop and deliver compelling presentations and business cases to customers.
* Maximise revenue opportunities within new and existing client accounts.
* Work collaboratively across business units to promote SGS's full suite of services.
* Maintain up-to-date records using SGS CRM systems in line with KPI expectations.
* Remain informed of market trends, competitor activity, and regulatory changes.
* Act in accordance with SGS Responsible Sales & Marketing and Code of Integrity policies.
Qualifications
Essential Skills & Experience
* Proven experience in a technical B2B sales role.
* Strong track record in new business development and account growth.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Experience with CRM systems and a performance-driven sales environment.
* Strong commercial acumen with a consultative, value-based sales approach.
* Self-motivated and able to work independently.
* Willingness to travel and stay away from home as required (including internationally).
* IT literate (MS Office and CRM tools).
Desirable
* Experience in the Testing, Inspection, and Certification (TIC) sector.
* Knowledge of materials testing, engineering, or scientific industries.
* Familiarity with budgeting and sales forecasting.
* Project Management or Customer Service qualifications.
Other Qualifications
* Essential: Sales qualification or significant relevant experience; full, clean UK driving license.
* Desirable: Degree in a technical, engineering, or scientific discipline; professional certifications (Prince2, Six Sigma, NVQ, etc.).
