About the Role
We are recruiting on behalf of a leading manufacturer within the rail industry, seeking an experienced Mechanical Assembly Operative to join their HVAC overhaul and assembly department. This role is ideally suited to candidates with a background in mechanical engineering, rail, or HVAC systems, who are comfortable working in a structured, quality-driven shop floor environment.
Key Responsibilities
Working as part of a skilled engineering team, you will be responsible for the overhaul, rebuild, and reassembly of railway air conditioning units, ensuring all work meets defined specifications and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Strip-down, rebuild, and reassemble rail HVAC units
Fit and replace components (fans, coils, heaters)
Test units to ensure performance and reliability
Follow manuals, drawings, and quality procedures
Maintain a safe, organised workshop
Requirements:
Mechanical or engineering experience in rail, HVAC, or manufacturing
Strong manual dexterity and assembly skills
Experience using hand tools and following engineering instructions
Attention to detail and commitment to quality
Team player with reliable work history
