We have an exciting opportunity for a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join and support the Multi-Disciplinary Team at Water Meadow View, to deliver outstanding person-centred care. The role includes working within the community learning disability team, offering further opportunities for varied experience and career growth. Water Meadow View is a new mental health inpatient unit for adults with learning disabilities and a mental health diagnosis located in Whittingham, Preston.
Job Responsibilities
* Assessment, treatment, planning, delivery and evaluation of evidence-based specialist speech and language intervention within the inpatient service for adults with learning disabilities and a mental health diagnosis, and within the Community Learning Disability Team.
* Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure a coordinated, multi-disciplinary and multi-agency service, maintaining good working relationships.
* Establish effective communication networks within the wider multidisciplinary team, social services, third and private sector agencies.
* Work as an autonomous practitioner, undertaking independent direct consultation and provision of care, making decisions and exercising high levels of judgment in the care and treatment of service users.
* Manage a caseload, including complex cases, applying advanced problem‑solving and reasoning skills; advise Highly Specialist SLTs of any identified risks and maintain duty of care and priority based on risk principles.
* Use specialist knowledge to inform and contribute to the development, review and implementation of LSCFT policies and procedures.
