Job Purpose
To make a leading contribution to the growing research in Geospatial Data Science at the College of Science and Engineering, this research associate/fellow will work with Professor Ana Basiri and the Geospatial Data Science Group at the University of Glasgow. The successful candidate will contribute to developing cutting-edge geospatial AI tools, delivering world-leading research, developing their career and team through high-impact outputs, submitting research proposals, supervising PhD and MSc students, and presenting at conferences, seminars, and workshops.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Investigate and develop generative geospatial AI and Large Language Models for geospatial data (GeoAI).
2. Develop innovative GeoAI solutions by combining geospatial data with OpenAI's and similar API offerings, such as GPT, Codex, etc., to automate data processing, generate insights, and develop AI-driven geospatial applications.
3. Study and develop applications using existing Large Language Models through fine-tuning, information retrieval, and integration into software projects.
4. Employ techniques including prompt engineering, data ingest, and transformation techniques.
5. Collaborate with the Geospatial Data Science Team and external industry, government, and third sector partners.
6. Enhance research profile and impact through publications, societal benefits, and esteem indicators.
7. Present work at international and national conferences and seminars.
8. Support FAIR principles by making data and code repositories available and reproducible, writing blogs, and drafting reports and papers.
9. Engage in personal and professional development to enhance skills.
10. Undertake any other duties as assigned by the PI.
Knowledge/Qualifications
* A PhD or equivalent in relevant discipline, with experience in computer science or related fields.
* Extensive knowledge of AI foundations, prompt engineering, data transformation, and model fine-tuning.
* Proficiency in leveraging OpenAI's or similar APIs for geospatial data tasks.
Skills

Terms and Conditions:
