Job Title: Principal Transport Data Analyst Salary: £44,631 - £47,552 per annum 35 Hours per Week Location: Warndon Depot, Worcester, WR4 0AA Team: Transport Technology Team Permanent Do you want to make a real impact in how we deliver transport services across Worcestershire? We are seeking a Principal Transport Data Analyst to lead on the strategic analysis, modelling and monitoring of Home to School Transport (HTST) and schemes within our Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP) This is an opportunity to shape how funding is allocated and evaluated, using advanced data tools to ensure smarter, more sustainable and efficient services. About the role You will lead a cross-cutting data and evaluation function, responsible for: Developing and maintaining detailed Power BI models for HTST eligibility, route optimisation and SEND cost forecasting Supporting policy reform and appeals processes through data-led insight and performance monitoring Analysing discretionary elements such as the Vacant Seats scheme Designing dashboards to monitor BSIP performance, patronage, journey time, reliability and modal shift Delivering robust evaluation frameworks and transport modelling tools for scenario planning and forecasting Aligning analysis with DfT’s Evaluation Strategy, Transport Analysis Guidance (TAG) and Green Book principles This post works across teams and services, linking operations, policy, finance, and long-term strategy. What we’re looking for You’ll be an experienced data analyst who can confidently lead complex projects and build clear, accessible insights. You should have: Proven experience in developing and maintaining Power BI dashboards or similar tools A strong understanding of policy, funding, and modelling Experience working with transport or similar datasets Knowledge of data validation, assurance processes and scenario forecasting techniques Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders Additional experience in Demand Responsive Transport (DRT), BSIP delivery, or AI/data science in transport would be desirable.
