Release of Information Officer

We are seeking a responsible, enthusiastic, and self-motivated individual with a pragmatic approach to join our busy Release of Information team. The role involves managing a variety of information requests, where effective communication is essential to ensure the confidentiality and protection of patients' personal data. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering a high-quality administrative service, ensuring a positive patient experience and providing excellent customer service.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced administrator with a comprehensive understanding of the Trust's electronic systems and the knowledge of
* GDPR
* The Data Protection Act 1998
* The Access to Health Records Act 1990
Main duties of the job
The primary responsibilities include processing Subject Access Requests (SARs) from patients and third parties, such as solicitors, while ensuring patient confidentiality is always upheld. This must be carried out in strict adherence to the Trust's Information Governance policy and the Data Protection Act, ensuring compliance with legal timeframes. Applicants should demonstrate a proven ability to work effectively as part of a team to support service delivery. A flexible approach to work, alongside a commitment to personal development and continuous improvement, is essential.

Person Specification
Knowledge and Qualifications
* Educated to GCSE level or equivalent, with Grade C or above in English and Maths.
* Knowledge of administrative procedures, acquired through training and/or previous experience of working in an administrative environment.
* Awareness of the requirement to maintain confidentiality, and knowledge of the Data Protection Act.
* NVQ Level 4 in Business Administration, Customer Service, Healthcare Services or equivalent qualification.
Experience
* Experience of working in a non-routine environment, with demonstrable evidence of being able to respond to queries and deal with unpredictable situations as they arise (acquired through experience and/or training to Vocational level 4 or equivalent).
* Experience of working in a customer facing environment, with knowledge of a comprehensive range of administrative procedures.
* Previous NHS experience, or experience of working in a healthcare setting.
Skills and Abilities
* Ability to make decisions in a constantly changing environment, using judgement to deal with queries or elevate where necessary.
* Advanced keyboard skills and competent use of IT systems.
* Able to deal with sensitive information with tact, diplomacy and understanding.
Personal and People Development
* Able to work independently, managing own workload and prioritising tasks.
* Able to work as part of a team, or autonomously in line with standard operating procedures.
* Willingness to continue to learn and develop in the role, taking part in learning and development activities in line with the Trust's Admin Staff learning and development framework.
