Scope and responsibilities:
An exciting opportunity has opened within our Estates and Facilities department, to join the team as a Caretaker - Handyperson.
You will work collaboratively as part of a dedicated team to deliver high-quality caretaking, security, maintenance, car parking, and grounds services for the college.
Your responsibilities will include:
Incident & Fire Management
* Respond to fire alarm activations, investigating the cause with the Incident Management Team;
* Sweep buildings to ensure full evacuation.
Risk Assessments
* Conduct risk assessments for all assigned tasks.
Weekly Vehicle Checks
* Test, check, valet and carry out minor repairs on college vehicles as directed.
Maintenance
* Carry out planned, preventative and reactive maintenance across the campus.
* Carry out project work where required.
* Tasks (under Site Coordinators direction, via CAFM system):
* Locks, ironmongery, furniture, building fabric, decoration.
* Drainage, minor electrical, plumbing, and data cabling tasks (not requiring engineers).
* Groundworks (paving/road repairs, non-slip boards, edging).
Porterage and Post
Security Support and general security duties
Moves liaison for internal moves and relocations
Groups, car parks and signage
Supporting cleaning contractor with daily issues
Parking Control systems, CCTV and access control
It is essential that you have the ability to travel to and from remote locations, carrying out all duties in and around off-site premises and have experience in a similar role. If you have a Basic Health & Safety Certificate, or Minibus Training Certificate, or Trade background / Qualification, or IPAF / PASMA certification or a Full UK Driving Licence then we would love to hear from you
Comprehensive in-house training will be provided for all tasks described within the job description, supporting the post holder in fulfilling their role to the expected standards.
This role is for 38.5 hours per week working in a shift pattern between 05:45am and 22:30pm, Monday to Saturday. Shifts will be confirmed 28 days in advance where possible.
