Job Description:
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
The shift pattern for this position is 5 days over 7, with shifts from 8-4 and 8-3:30.
The healthcare provision is based around a model of care specifically aimed at delivering Addiction, Mental Health, and Primary Care services. The role of the Healthcare Support Worker is to support professional healthcare staff to deliver care within the healthcare centre/establishment in line with NHS and Scottish Prison Service standards and policies.
The role involves assisting registered nurses to ensure that the environment is safe, clean, comfortable, and suitable for patient care. To contribute to the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of patients by being an active and supporting member of the team.
This diverse role involves the daily delivery of high-quality support to the nursing team to enable healthcare delivery to a population with physical, psychological, substance misuse, and social problems, while maintaining security procedures within the prison setting.
* Minimum of 2 Standard Grades including English and Maths.
* SVQIII in healthcare or equivalent experience in a caring environment/role.
* Competent in using computerised information systems, including Microsoft Office.
* Well-developed communication skills, both written and oral.
* Ability to effectively meet the demands of a challenging workload.
* Ability to work with people as part of a multidisciplinary team and to prioritise workload.
On induction, the post holder will undergo mandatory training, including Basic Life Support, Moving and Handling, Breakaway Training, Suicide Risk Management, and Fire Awareness Training.
