Media Relations Coordinator (Fixed‑term contract for 12 months)
Location: Manchester, UK or Remote
Salary: £34,572 per annum (plus contributory pension)
About the Role
As a Media Relations Coordinator at MAG, you will work with our communications and global programmes teams to drive media relations, secure high‑value coverage, and develop our global network of journalism contacts. You will pitch story ideas, facilitate media visits, and contribute to written and digital content for MAG’s website and social media channels. This dynamic, self‑driven role requires proactive engagement and strong communication skills to represent MAG’s stories, vision, and values worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and implement proactive media engagement and external communication strategies.
* Build and maintain a global network of journalism contacts.
* Pitch story ideas and coordinate media visits.
* Produce press releases, op‑eds, and social‑media content for diverse audiences.
* Analyze and grow online audiences, translating complex information into clear, accessible messaging.
About You
* Proactive, curious, with communications experience in the humanitarian or development sector.
* Skilled in developing and implementing media relations strategies.
* Excellent networking abilities and the capacity to spot and pitch stories.
* Strong writing skills across formats, including press releases, op‑eds, and social‑media copy.
* Experience analysing and growing online audiences, communicating complex information simply and accurately.
