As a Delivery Manager in Technology, you will be responsible for delivering high-value initiatives across all areas of technology. You will work in collaboration with the business to understand their needs, drive results and deliver excellence. You will manage risks, issues and budget, and ensure that initiatives are delivered to schedule, budget, scope, and the highest quality standards. You will also work in a collaborative way with multiple third parties and matrix teams, and foster a culture of innovation, agility, and continuous improvement.
We’re looking for someone to work alongside our Digital and Online teams to deliver projects and backlog items which drive customer and colleague benefit. We’re looking for someone with experience in landing changes to customer facing ecommerce platforms using both agile and waterfall delivery within the Retail industry.
Responsibilities
* Takes responsibility for the management of and successful execution of high-value tech and transformation initiatives that span across multiple business units and areas, typically up to £1m in delivery cost.
* Collaborate with initiative sponsors and key stakeholders to ensure shared ownership for the delivery of outcomes.
* Lead cross-functional change into the organisation through appropriate project, programme and agile delivery practices.
* Partner closely with Product Managers, Architecture and Engineering Leads to align the delivery plan with the product roadmap, priorities, and technical strategy.
* Own stakeholder relationships and engage the business more broadly with change communications.
* Manage high performing delivery teams, with good knowledge management, who work in collaboration with the business.
* Manage the performance of internal and external suppliers.
* Establish and sustain an effective governance framework to ensure appropriate oversight and control across initiatives.
* Take ownership for key deliverables across the delivery lifecycle and apply appropriate methodologies to support wider aims and objectives, including:
- Maintain the comprehensive plan, risk & issue logs using PMO delivery tool Planview
- Drive momentum of change and proactively identify and resolve issues and impediments; manage interdependencies clearly
- Maintain the initiative budget and forecast
- Update governance and portfolio level reporting
- Manage schedule and resource dependencies to support predictable delivery cadence
* Coordinate the definition and delivery of detailed business requirements with the business, IT and third parties.
* Ensure realistic estimates of costs, timescales, quality and resource requirements are agreed and proactively manage deviations through to initiative closure (utilising formal change control where required).
Required Experience
* 3+ years project or programme management experience
* Experience delivering in large, complex organisations (e.g., FTSE 250 companies or top-tier professional services)
* Strong commerce/retail implementation experience is beneficial
* Knowledge and experience of project management methodologies and development lifecycles (Waterfall, Agile, Continuous Improvement)
* Knowledge of project management tools such as Jira and Confluence
* Expert knowledge of financial forecasting and budget management
* Experience implementing projects on enterprise-scale technology platforms (e.g., Salesforce Cloud Commerce, MuleSoft)
* Experience managing third-party vendors and outsourcing/offshore partners
* Ability to communicate with stakeholders at various levels and distill complex technical information for non-technical audiences
* High level of resilience and strong organisational skills to manage multiple teams (including offshore/time zones)
* Flexible to meet tight deadlines; may require occasional extended hours
* Self-starter with drive to deliver results, and effective influencing/negotiation skills in varied environments
