Senior clinical fellow in cardiothoracic anaesthesia and ITU
Job Summary
Starting June 2026, this fixed‑term (3 months) training position is designed to provide structured teaching and supervised clinical development in cardiothoracic anaesthesia and intensive care unit (ITU) practice. The postholder will contribute to service delivery while gaining experience aligned to the relevant specialty training curriculum.
Responsibilities
* Provide anaesthesia and intensive care for patients undergoing cardiac surgery.
* Provide anaesthesia for patients undergoing thoracic surgery.
* Provide anaesthesia for cardiology procedures, including ablations, TAVI, and MTEER.
Qualifications
* Completed 3 years of training in general anaesthesia and ITU within the UK.
* Passed FRCA or equivalent examination, or equivalent UK credential.
* Demonstrated willingness to learn cardiothoracic anaesthesia and ITU skills and ability to integrate into a multidisciplinary team.
* For broader professional progression: Minimum 6 years of specialty training, holding a relevant higher‑specialty exam (e.g. FRCP, FRCA, FRCS) and a portfolio of evidence supporting progression per the contemporary curriculum.

Compensation
Salary will be assessed at a nodal pay point linked to the grade and will include basic pay plus any additional remuneration for hours, weekend allowance, or enhanced pay as per the doctors' work schedule.
