The successful candidate will be part of an enthusiastic team of Physicians dedicated to providing high quality patient care.

 * Acute Frailty (both with Virtual Wards)
 * Stroke and HASU
 * Cardiology with intervention and pacing
 * Respiratory Medicine (bronchoscopy and pleural procedures)
 * Endocrinology and Diabetes
 * Gastroenterology (facilities for complex endoscopy)
 * Geriatrics
 * Orthogeriatrics
 * Renal Medicine (in/out‑patient dialysis)
 * Medical HDU and Intensive Care (under dept. of Anaesthesia)
There is a comprehensive Consultant led HAHT service with dedicated registrar support. Most of the medical admissions are from ED, with some patients admitted from clinics or direct from referral source via the responsible Consultant. Most of the patients will be admitted to the Acute Medical Unit, with a few going directly to a ward if suitable.
Job Details
 * This is a 10PA job. There is provision for five full‑time Consultant posts.
 * Post‑holder will be responsible for the day‑to‑day supervision and will work collaboratively with the Team to deliver the clinical care strategy to ensure the highest quality of care for patients in all settings.
 * Post‑holder will provide clinical supervision to the resident/specialty doctors with regard to day‑to‑day care of inpatients.
 * Support facilitated discharge via HAHT (Hospital at Home Team).
 * Attend relevant professional meetings and other educational activities to attain the necessary points to satisfy the requirements for accreditation by The Royal College of Physicians and to stay updated in the latest medical knowledge.
 * Participate in the Departments and Hospital's Clinical Governance processes, working together with others to improve the standard of care and develop best practice.
 * Post‑holder will be expected to be involved in the development of all the clinical services with close liaison with colleague Consultants and the Senior Management Team.

Postgraduate Centre
There is an excellent Postgraduate Centre at Darent Valley Hospital. It provides lecture and tutorial rooms and a dining room. Numerous meetings for Hospital Doctors and General Practitioners are held at the centre. There are regular educational sessions and meetings covering Case Presentation, Journal club, Histopathology joint meetings, General, Urological and Vascular X‑ray meetings and Mammography Meetings.
