At GSAL Transport Ltd (GTL), we are seeking a highly organised and proactive Operations Manager to join our team and take responsibility for the daily running of our school transport services.
In this pivotal role, you'll oversee our vehicle fleet and driver team, ensuring all services run efficiently, safely, and to the highest compliance standards. From managing vehicle maintenance and supplier relationships to leading and motivating drivers, your work will help ensure our pupils travel safely every day.
You'll be at the heart of our operations, carrying out daily vehicle and safety checks, implementing procedural controls, and ensuring compliance with all relevant transport legislation. No two days are the same, one day you might be working with suppliers to manage repairs, the next you'll be conducting audits or supporting drivers through training and development.
To thrive in this role, you'll need excellent organisational and leadership skills, strong knowledge of transport legislation (or the willingness to train), and the confidence to make sound decisions under pressure. A Management CPC qualification (or equivalent) or the willingness to work towards this and a driving licence are essential. You'll also need to bring strong communication skills, a flexible and adaptable approach, and a commitment to safety, compliance, and customer service.
The transport team is based on our beautiful school site in Alwoodley LS17, and is a small but dynamic team. You'll be part of a supportive environment that values teamwork, continuous improvement, and community service.
