Overview
Role: Pharmacy Information Analyst lead responsible for data management, reporting, and service development within the pharmacy informatics team. The postholder will lead, develop and manage a team, deliver data analyses to support decision-making, and ensure high standards of governance and quality in data handling.
Responsibilities
* Communication
o Present complex medicines usage and expenditure data clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
o Share relevant information with Pharmacy, Business Intelligence, Finance teams, and external partners.
o Maintain confidentiality in line with policies and legislation.
* Service Planning & Delivery
o Interpret analytical requirements and deliver accurate, actionable reports.
o Support senior management decision-making with specialist data analysis.
o Maintain and utilise NHS datasets for medicines management.
o Compile and validate monthly billing data for PbR-excluded medicines.
o Respond to medicines-related Freedom of Information requests.
o Work with BI and income teams to improve data processes.
* Team Leadership & Management
o Lead, supervise, and develop the Pharmacy Information Analyst team.
o Conduct appraisals, support staff development, and embed Equality & Diversity values.
o Build positive working relationships within the Trust and with external stakeholders.
* Learning & Development
o Deliver data analysis training for pharmacy staff.
o Promote high-quality data entry to ensure report accuracy.
o Maintain and develop personal expertise.
* Quality & Governance
o Develop and review SOPs and policies for pharmacy data management.
o Ensure compliance with legislation and professional standards.
o Contribute to audits, incident investigations, and risk management.
* Service Improvement
o Implement process improvements for data collection and reporting.
o Monitor performance through audits and data reviews.
o Contribute to service plans and innovation within the department.
* Financial Management
o Analyse drug expenditure for savings opportunities and accurate commissioner reimbursement.
o Maintain complete high-cost drug datasets and manage commissioner challenges.
o Identify and support Waste Reduction Program (WRP) initiatives.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
* Graduate level qualification in information management/statistical analysis or proven practical experience at this level
* Evidence of continuous professional development
Desirable criteria
* Pharmacy and IT qualifications (desirable)
Knowledge
Essential criteria
* Knowledge and use of data extraction, management and statistical analysis tools (e.g., SQL, Qlikview)
* Experience of deriving key messages from complex information and large data sets and presenting in a user-friendly format
* Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team
* Evidence of service development
* Advanced use of MS Office applications
* Knowledge of information security and confidentiality laws and principles
Desirable criteria
* Knowledge of NHS contracting/commissioning cycles
* Knowledge of commissioning of high-cost drugs
* Experience in an NHS acute hospital setting
* Experience in use of Pharmacy IT Systems
