The RoleWe’re looking for a Researcher / Scriptwriter for Outlore podcast
This isn’t just about writing, It’s about story architecture. You’ll know what makes a strong script, You’ll understand pacing, reveals, and how to build audience trust. You know the true crime space.
What You'll Be Doing📚 Deep Research
- Pitch and develop original true crime stories and angles that haven't been covered
- Research via case files, court documents, books, forums, podcasts,
- Fact-check rigorously, accuracy is non-negotiable
- Approach every story with empathy and editorial care
✍️ Scriptwriting
- Write clear, voice-ready scripts that sound natural,
- Build strong narrative arcs with twists, tension, and rhythm
- Open with something that immediately pulls viewers in
- Structure for high retention: pacing, mid-rolls, and payoffs all considered
- Collaborate with producers and editors on refining tone and format
🎯 Audience-First Thinking
- Understand how audiences watch, drop off, comment, and click
- Suggest working titles, thumbnail angles, and metadata that help your episode cut through the noise
- Timestamp edits - write descriptions
We’re Looking For Someone Who…- Is obsessed with storytelling, especially in the true crime space
- Has proven experience writing or researching content that’s been published, viewed, or shared
- Can tell a compelling story without over-dramatising or exploiting real people
- Writes clean, well-paced copy designed for voiceover or on-camera delivery
- Knows what makes a viewer stay past the first minute
- Can balance big-picture narrative with granular research
- Feels confident sourcing and breaking down complex or sensitive stories
- Is proactive, reliable, and works well with feedback
Bonus Points If You...- Have written or produced in the True crime space before
- Have experience in podcasting, docuseries, or narrative journalism
- Have a backlog of story ideas you'd love to pitch
- Can point to a script, video, or episode you’re really proud of
