This is an exciting opportunity for a Specialty Doctor to join the Rheumatology Team at East Lancashire Hospital for a 12‑month fixed term post. The successful candidate will receive full exposure to the full range of the Rheumatology speciality work. The appointee will participate in the Rheumatology outpatient clinics, assist the Rheumatologist of the Week, review rheumatology inpatients, support the multidisciplinary team, undertake audit and quality improvement projects, attend clinical governance, mortality and morbidity meetings, regional and national educational meetings, and conduct research activities. The post holder will also develop skills in joint injections and musculoskeletal ultrasound.
Responsibilities
* Inpatient: Assist in seeing inpatient referrals, attend consultant ward rounds and manage ward‑related tasks for patients under the supervising consultant(s).
* Outpatient: Attend supervised clinics and review patients in an outpatient setting, including day‑case clinics where joint injections are performed. Two weekly clinics and fortnightly injection clinics will form part of the timetable. Allocate time for departmental teaching and personal development.
* Complete clinical administrative tasks relating to outpatient clinics and ward work, e.g., discharge summaries and outpatient letters.
* No out‑of‑hours on‑call responsibilities.
* Participate in audit and quality improvement projects and attend clinical governance meetings, mortality and morbidity meetings, and regional and national educational meetings.
Qualifications & Experience
* Medical degree.
* Registered with the GMC and hold a licence to practise.
* Rheumatology working experience.
* Appropriate UK professional registration.
