An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team at South Wigan Medical Practice. We have a vacancy for a part time receptionist/administrator.
Main duties
A successful applicant would ideally be an experienced receptionist who has previously worked in general practice or a similar healthcare role. You would be expected to cover all aspects of reception such as front of house, telephones, scanning, processing prescriptions and dealing with general patient enquiries. You must have a friendly and an approachable personality with the ability to work as part of a team. You must also be flexible to cover AL where required. We use System One clinical system alongside AMGP digital platform.
About Us
We are proud to be the first GP practice to become part of the Greater Manchester Good Employment Charter, committed to better pay and conditions for all our employees. Currently the team consists of 7 GP partners, 2 practice nurses, 1 HCA (health care assistant) and a dedicated admin and management team. We are a training practice with around 6500 patients, based in a purpose built building in Chandler House with on-site parking.

Job Description Receptionist/Administrator
Purpose of role
Main point of contact between public and practice and acting as a focal point for communication within and externally to practice. Also to perform administrative operation of practice under guidance from line manager.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Reception/front desk/meeting greeting duties
* Be the first point of initial contact for the general public to assist in general or specific enquiries
* Book appointments
* Log arrivals and let in/out of secure areas of building as indicated
* Take deliveries
* Deal with private payments issues for services along with collecting payments and issuing receipts
* Ensure people are dealt with appropriately and courteously
* Pass on requests for medical advice/information or home visits in the appropriate manner
* Advise public over policies and procedures for temporary patient arrangements for joining practice
* Telephone/internet duties
* Be first point of contact for the general public in all non-face to face means
* Ensure that phone/e mail and internal messaging requests are answered promptly in the correct manner according to protocol to present an efficient, safe and confidential service
* Use of specialist software (e.g. for running call/re-call systems, authorising medication, scanning/filing letters, data entering on patient records)
* Ensure that data flows around the practice from initial entry to final destination in a logical and systematic manner, maintaining patient safety and confidentiality
* General administration duties for the practice
* Assisting and taking a lead where appropriate in all general administrative tasks
* Repeat prescription ordering/printing/administration
* Ensure repeat medications are promptly issued or sent for re-authorising, with collection or delivery instructions for scripts
* Opening up and closing procedures
* General filing and keeping paperwork tidy
* Record-keeping and shredding within policy timelines
* Other day-to-day tasks as needed for a General Reception and Administrator, including keeping General Health and Safety Policies and Procedures
* General tidying and occasional cleaning as required to maintain health and safety and fire requirements
