Consultant General Surgeon - Greater Manchester
We are seeking a Consultant General Surgeons to support with weekends theatres aimed at reducing elective care backlogs. The role focuses on providing high-quality, consultant-led care.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will provide high-quality surgical care as part of the General Surgery team. Key responsibilities include:
Assessing, diagnosing, and managing patients requiring general surgical input in both elective and emergency settings.
Performing a range of surgical procedures including abdominal, gastrointestinal, and soft tissue surgery.
Delivering comprehensive preoperative and postoperative care, ensuring safe and effective patient management.
Participating in the emergency on-call rota and providing timely surgical intervention for acute and trauma cases.
Working closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated, patient-centred care.
Contributing to clinical governance, audit, teaching, and service development within the department.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Full GMC registration with a licence to practise.
* CCT (or equivalent) in General Surgery.
Experience
* Demonstrable experience in elective general surgical procedures (e.g., hernia repair, cholecystectomy, minor soft tissue surgery).
* Strong commitment to patient safety and high-quality care.
* Ability to work flexibly across NHS partner sites.
