Electrical Plant Engineer – SSEN Transmission
Base Location: Aberdeen, Glasgow, Inverness or Perth (Scotland). Salary: £50,100‑£75,100 plus car/car allowance, performance bonus and benefits. Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First available.
Responsibilities
* Write electric plant scope of works for GIS/AIS plant and equipment (switchgear, transformers, FACTS, grid stabilisation 33kV‑400kV).
* Review and approve primary plant contractor designs, attend FATs, support the Technical Authority process.
* Promote best practice, suggest improvements in specifications, technology options, manage engineering risks.
* Implement safety‑by‑design principles to control engineering and safety risks.
* Support site and operational teams to ensure quality installations with minimal risk to network security.
Qualifications
* Experience in transmission‑level electric plant specification, design review, FATs, installation and commissioning up to 400kV (AIS/GIS switchgear, transformers, reactors).
* Technical understanding of British and international standards, legislation and implications for assets and projects, including CDM & ESQCR.
* Effective communication skills, able to explain complex technical issues clearly.
* Ability to work with internal and external stakeholders and build strong relationships.
* Degree in Electrical or related engineering discipline; Chartered Engineer preferred or working toward chartered status.
