Development Manager - Data Centre
Location: UK / Hybrid
Reports to: Senior Development Manager
Salary: Up to 70k base salary + %bonus
About the Company
We are working with a UK-based infrastructure developer focused on delivering sustainable, low-carbon digital infrastructure projects across Europe. With a strong background in grid-connected power infrastructure, the team brings together expertise in energy, planning, finance, and regulatory frameworks. As the business grows, we are looking for a Development Manager to support the expansion of our data centre portfolio across the UK.
The Role
This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of complex, high-value infrastructure projects from concept through to ready-to-build. You’ll work across land acquisition, planning, grid connection, and commercial modelling—while coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead development of digital infrastructure projects from origination through to RTB status
* Identify and assess new sites; conduct screening and constraint analysis
* Negotiate land rights and secure agreements with landowners and agents
* Oversee and manage planning applications and appeals in line with TCPA and DCO frameworks
* Coordinate with grid specialists to secure power connections
* Work with design teams on site layout optimisation and feasibility
* Support commercial modelling and investment case preparation
* Manage due diligence and project risk assessments
* Maintain oversight of budgets, timelines, and internal approvals
* Ensure compliance with H&S and quality standards
Requirements
* 3+ years’ experience in infrastructure, renewable energy, real estate, or related development
* Knowledge of planning systems, land acquisition, and grid connection processes
* Strong communication, stakeholder management, and project leadership skills
* Degree in engineering, property, sustainability, or a related discipline
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools
* Willingness to travel regularly within the UK
Preferred
* Familiarity with grid infrastructure and UK planning policy
* Experience in data centre, renewables, or large-scale infrastructure development
