Content Manager
The Growth Company’s (GC) Marketing Manchester team have an exciting new opportunity for a Content Manager who will play a key part in developing and delivering engaging, high-quality content that brings Greater Manchester’s story to life. Focusing strongly on written content, alongside image and video commissioning, you will support the Content Lead with the creation of compelling narratives that promote and elevate the work of the organisation, its partners, stakeholders, and audiences.
Marketing Manchester is the agency that promotes Greater Manchester nationally and internationally as a place to visit, invest, meet and study. Our work is an essential component to successfully raise the profile of the city-region as the gateway to the North and improve global perceptions and city ranking. Marketing Manchester also delivers the promotion for Greater Manchester’s priority sectors including the creative industries, low carbon, advanced manufacturing, and digital and tech, as well as supporting Invest Manchester, Greater Manchester’s inward investment agency.
Key responsibilities:
1. Create and develop key pieces of content to support Marketing Manchester in its work to promote Greater Manchester as a place to visit, meet, invest, and study.
2. Produce engaging copy and editorial content for use across a variety of channels and audiences.
3. Brief and commission new video and imagery via external agencies and freelancers.
4. Work closely with the media, communications, and digital teams to support content distribution and maximise reach, consistency, and immediacy.
5. Collaborate with the in-house Video Editor and design team on utilisation of existing assets.
6. Use content to protect and elevate the work of Marketing Manchester and the reputation of the Manchester brand.
7. Engage with a diverse range of stakeholders and partners to ensure content reflects Greater Manchester’s strengths.
8. Monitor, evaluate, and report on key performance indicators in line with service level agreements, action plans, and funding requirements.

9. Excellent writing skills, with the ability to adapt style for different audiences and purposes.
10. Able to build strong strategic relationships that inform the creation of content supporting Greater Manchester’s objectives.
11. A collaborative team player, working effectively within Marketing Manchester and with wider stakeholders.
12. Strong attention to detail, with excellent copy editing, drafting, and proofreading skills.
13. Well organised with the ability to plan, prioritise, and manage multiple tasks effectively.
14. Proactive, motivated, and able to work independently while maintaining high quality delivery under pressure.
15. A confident, resourceful, open, and responsive individual that promotes good ideas and ways of working.
Skills required:
16. Ability to develop content strategies that deliver against specific campaign KPIs.
17. Experience in creating engaging written, image, and video content, and briefing external agencies and freelancers.
18. Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work in partnership across teams and organisations.
19. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
20. Ability to maintain high standards of delivery while working to tight deadlines.
21. Results driven, with a focus on achieving and reporting against agreed objectives.
